What is the AuthInfo code and what is an AuthInfo2?

The AuthInfo code is a randomly generated password by the provider, which you need to transfer your domain to a new provider. The transfer will only work smoothly if domain and corresponding AuthCode are transferred correctly.

Like the AuthInfo code, the AuthInfo2 is a randomly generated password to protect a domain from abuse by third parties. Unlike the AuthInfo code, AuthInfo2 is not generated by the provider but by DENIC itself. This has the advantage that a domain can be transferred independently of the provider.

For example, if the current provider is no longer available or refuses to hand over the AuthInfo code, it is still possible to transfer the domain with the help of AuthInfo2. If a domain has been deleted, the domain holder can use the AuthInfo2 code to re-register the domain within the 30-day registration period

Who can order an AuthInfo2 code and how is it sent?

The AuthInfo2 can be ordered by the domain holder or, alternatively, by your IT service provider.

After payment has been received, the order will be submitted to DENIC and sent by registered mail. Please note that the package will always be sent to the domain holder's address that DENIC has entered on the DENIC website when the order is placed. It is not possible for us to influence the addressing.

Please allow at least 2-4 working days after ordering for the delivery of the parcel.

As an agency, can I order on behalf of my client?

You are welcome to order AuthInfo2 for your customers. It will always be sent to the domain owner himself.

What do I do after receiving AuthInfo2?

With the AuthInfo2 you receive, you can contact your trusted provider and transfer your domain. Since every provider implements this process differently, we cannot give you any generally applicable instructions. What remains the same is that you transfer the domain name and the AuthInfo2 to your provider.

If you have been using web space so far and e.g. run a homepage or use e-mail accounts, please backup your data in advance.

What does the AuthInfo2 code cost?

For the processing of your request we charge you a one-time fee of 19,90 €. Through the The use of Authinfo2 at a registrar can be used to change the provider or domain transfer additional costs may arise. Please ask your provider for these costs of your choice.

Can I cancel the order I have already paid for?

Since ordering an AuthInfo2 is an exceptional case and DENIC has set strict guidelines for order submission, the order can only be processed via a fully automated interface directly to DENIC. Processing takes place in real time, so the order is transferred to DENIC for processing immediately after payment. For this reason, it is not possible to cancel or refund the order.

What is SOFORT Überweisung?

- Enter your country and select your bank using the BLZ or BIC to make the transfer.

- You will then be in the login area of the protected payment form. Log in with your online banking access data. The data will be transmitted encrypted.

- Prepare transfer and enter TAN.

- Finally, you will receive a summary of the transfer with all important information about the purchase.

What are the special features of deleted domains?

If your domain has already been deleted, you can restore it with AuthInfo2. In this case, however, it is no longer possible to query DENIC for the holder's data, since the data was also deleted along with the domain. AuthInfo2 is thus sent to the last holder data that was deposited with DENIC before the deletion. You can recognize a deleted domain by the reference "RGP (Redemption Grace Period)" or "Carriage time" when you query the data at https://www.denic.de/webwhois/ and the deletion date is displayed.

For a deleted domain, you always have 30 days after deletion to restore the domain. If an AuthInfo2 is successfully set on the domain, you extend the grace period by 30 days after payment.

Why can't I restore my domain with AuthInfo2?

Some providers do not yet support the use of an AuthInfo2 code. Therefore it is quite possible that your domain is displayed as free at the provider's site, but the registration fails or the AuthInfo2 is rejected as "not correct".

In this case, we will be happy to help you and convert the AuthInfo2 into a normal AuthCode for you, with which you can easily register your domain with your new provider. Please contact support@authinfo-code.de and hand over the AuthInfo2 and the new holder data. We will hand over the AuthCode for the domain to you as soon as possible. For the manual effort we will charge you 9,95 €.
